Open and collaborative approach to innovation is no longer a choice but a must because we already live in a time where no one company can do everything on its own. We can do more better and faster when we work together across industries and organizational boundaries.

First and foremost, it’s about facilitating collaboration among LG affiliate companies to achieve innovative synergy. From electronics and chemicals to communication and services, we want to unlock the tremendous potential of our diverse business and R&D portfolio by working together on new and bigger challenges.

Such convergence of strengths, of course, will also involve cooperating with innovative forces outside LG Group. Whether they are multinational corporations, budding start-ups, universities or research labs, we want to exchange ideas, share resources and collaborate. Our ultimate goal is to establish an open eco-system of innovation that will benefit and empower all its participants.

Future Incubation

Leveraging such an open, global R&D network, LG Sciencepark will also explore new opportunities in domains that are currently not covered by the existing LG businesses but may benefit from combining our diverse capabilities.

In particular, as LG Group’s R&D hub, our priority will be on some of the world’s most urgent and most inspiring challenges - the ones that require a more far-sighted approach than the usual timespan of frontline business operations. These will be about big ideas that bring about big changes in how we think and do things.
